The Gift of Space

I often feel bombarded with tasks and responsibilities, leaving little time to slow down and truly listen.

As a coach, deep listening and attunement are at the heart of my work—it’s the most essential part of my relationship with clients. I commit to being fully present with them, yet I’ve learned that I must first create space to listen to myself to truly show up for others.

When I started coaching, I would show up eager to support my clients in any way I could. But a few months in, during a coaching session of my own, it became clear: the greatest gift I could give myself was time—time alone to reflect, connect, and truly listen to what mattered most to me. If I was going to bring anything that felt meaningful, what I call magic, to the world, I had to increase my quiet time. For me, journaling was my opportunity to connect more deeply.

That realization led me to begin a very reluctant morning journaling practice on October 27, 2010. At the time, waking up 15 minutes earlier to write felt ridiculous—6:45 a.m. seemed impossibly early! But I committed to it, and over time, those quiet moments became a foundation for something more profound.

That practice was the beginning of me carving out space simply to be.

Now, I notice that when I don’t journal or meditate, I feel ungrounded, living at the surface rather than deeply grounded and connected.

The world is full of distractions and busyness that can easily drown out our intuition, making it difficult to hear where we’re being called and led.

If we want more joy, this is where we need to start.

This past weekend, I led a couples retreat with my beloved. The work brought me immense joy, but I also noticed how little space I had for myself. I felt the lack of space between lots of preparation and co-leading the sessions. With my husband’s cancer diagnosis, my mind feels even more swirly these days. There is so much to manage and uncertainty, and it’s easy to get lost in the noise of life.

And I know I’m not alone. Everyone has so much on their plate—work, family, health, and the never-ending demands of daily life. Amidst it all, we can lose touch with ourselves and what truly matters. We become disconnected from our needs, what restores us, and the deep joy that makes us feel whole.

Now that I have been doing it for a while and added meditation to the mix, I can deeply connect to my intuition, my inner voice.

I feel led in my life by something I can’t quite put a finger on, but I have never felt more aligned and more on purpose.

I would love for you to experience this, too.

In January, I was meditating about what felt important to me in 2025 and what work I was meant to bring to the world, and I ‘heard’ (I don’t know a better way to describe it).

“You need to start a healing circle for women to gather, and it’s to be called the Womb, a place for women to return home to themselves and be restored.”

I felt reluctant to ‘come out of the closet’ with this idea and call it something that might not sound mainstream.

Even though I feel that way, I most importantly want to follow where I am being led as I know that brings me the deepest meaning and purpose.

It’s one of my greatest joys to lead these circles. There are no cameras on, no sharing, and it is simply a safe space to unwind and be led through some deep listening practices and journaling prompts so women can reflect, be restored, and reset.

I want you to have this chance to slow down and listen to what’s going on inside you.

The feedback that I have had so far is that people have loved the time to slow down, and some have encountered life-changing truths about themselves that have allowed them to live more wholehearted lives- that’s pure goodness.

If you identify in any way as a woman and this appeals to you, please sign up here for our next session on March 23rd at 1 pm MT. https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/1eLDJsdCS0-e7GieISukFQ

Bring paper and a pen and join from a comfy place.

Even if you can’t make it, you will get a recording you can listen to whole or in bite-sized chunks.

In The Womb, our monthly meeting place, I invite women into a space where they can slow down and listen. I want you to have a chance to experience a taste of what I do every day so you can connect to the magic you’re made for.

And if you live near Calgary and want a chance to deepen this connection along with a dozen other women and have some fun, then hit reply, and I will send you info on the Free to be Me retreat on May 3 (9-4:30) $229.00 -bring a friend and you both get 10% off!

So much love for you all!
